i received emails and 'smses' from didie bakes' regulars asking if i'd make special cupcakes this valentine's day(?). WHAT???!! i said to myself, why did not i think of this brilliant ideas!!
well, just an intro to valentine's day. it falls on february 14th, this year it is on a sunday. it is the traditional day on which lovers can show their love for each other by sending valentine's cards and gifts to each other such as red roses, sweets, and chocolates usually anonymously. but nothing beats something sweet, cute and practical like cupcakes!
so i decided to get some ideas going for valentine's day and thought what are valentine's cupcakes without hearts?(!). the result is these love-in-the-air cupcakes!! why not surprise someone today!

(1) a red velvet base topped with creamy vanilla buttercream, sprinkled with red coconut flakes and finished with love-heart cake coated in chocolate ganache!
