yet another birthday party & cake for sophie - part 2

sophie alyssa turned 1 year old on the 26th november 2009. since then we had 3 different occasion to celebrate her 1st year and i tell you what??? it's tiring but...i enjoyed every process of it, i actually had great time planning each and every one of it too :)

sophie birthday invitewell the recent party we had for sophie was on saturday (5th december) afternoon. for a change we decided to enjoy it in the park, just outside our home in the carlton garden, under the beautiful "jacaranda" tree.

under the jacaranda treewhat can i say, it was so bittersweet! my baby is ONE! it is my first birthday party. and yes, i say "my" birthday because isn't the first birthday really all about mom anyway? such a major accomplishment to conceive and bear a child and sustain him or her for a whole year and manage to remain relatively sane. besides, by their second birthday, they start having their own ideas, likes and dislikes. but i did not have any specific theme for her birthday, i did not think that she would appreciate any crazy decorations with cartoon characters or princesses at this young age. more so to get together with our dear friends.

i was grateful for the kind weather, the day was just so perfect to enjoy it with some of sophie's wonderful little friends, with some of their mums and dads too. of course with finger food, cake and fruits. i have made a moist and dense yummylicious chocolate mud cake topped with chocolate glaze and finished with an elmo character. this cake is then surrounded with mini carrot cake topped with creamy cream cheese and colorful sprinkles. i have received great notes and comments on these mini carrot cakes. see for yourself :) oh, sophie loved the chocolate mud cake that she shared a piece with daddy alex. YAY!

elmo chocolate mud cake & carrot cream cheese mini cakessophie, of course with bethany's help, blew out her first birthday cake candle and she did ever so well for cards and presents and she's got a lot of thank you cards to write now.
